Hello mga agaws!

Did you ever wonder where our surname came from?

as we all know, we have a pure filipino surname Tumulak in English "to push".

But where could have this be originated? some say we are the descendants of Lapu Lapu the first filipino hero, and some say we are the descendants of Raja Sula the neighboring cheiftain of Mactan Island(babag). Which is true?

I have been searching all of my extra time(at work) looking for answers that ive been waiting for, our origins.  There i stumbled on one article that filipinos during the spanish era 1849 were ordered to use family names from catalogue of surnames from the claveria decree and Tumulak surname was not included there, meaning Tumulak already existed way before that drecree was implemented.  Because there was an exception of this decree that those direct descendants of ancient rulers (i.e., Mojica, Tupas etc.) were excluded and were permitted to maintain their surnames. The Tagalog nobility was also spared (i.e., Gatmaitan, Hilario etc.) this is the reason why we still hear these surnames up to now There were those who were ordered to take on unique surnames (usually names of flora & fauna) to make them more visible.

so much of that articles i have read, i want to hear from your side anything that you know or you heard about our origins.

anything you can share?
