Oslob Attractions
Oslob has its share of unique attractions, natural or man-made. Its clean waters and fascinating underwater paradise makes Oslob a perfect place for get-away for those who are looking for something daring or for those who wants to visit the traces of its past glory.
As Argao is known for its torta, Carcar for its chicharon and ampao and Talisay for its lechon, Oslob is also proud of its delicacies such as tostado, rosquillos and podrida, a tasty delicacy that has a resemblance of a flower but with a coconut in the center.
Like any other towns, Oslob is also celebrating the town fiesta with a festival. The Sadsad Festival is a brightly-colored dance festival in honor of its patroness, the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. From a barangay celebration, it is now one of the highlights of the fiesta.
Here are some of Oslob’s attractions that are worth paying a visit:
Immaculada Concepcion Parish (Immaculate Conception Parish)/ Oslob Church
This church is considered one of the oldest churches in the entire province of Cebu. The church itself and the convent are made of cut coral blocks. Comparatively large, the church is in Romanesque in style, conceptualized by Fr. Santos Marañon.
Located in barangay Poblacion, the church was featured as part of the quadrumvirate, alongside the churches of Boljoon, Argao and Dalaguete. They are called “fort-churches and served two purposes during the olden time. Aside from being a place of worship, it served as a safe haven for the inhabitants during the attacks of the Moros which is quite frequent during the time.
Mainit Spring

Among one of the springs that flows freely in the town of Oslob. Located in barangay Mainit, it is rich in sulfuric water that is known to be curative and perfect for your exhausted bodies.
Fr. Mauricio Alvarez was said to be the first one who discovered the medical uses of the spring and responsible in educating the residents about it.
Sumilon Island

One of Oslob’s pride, Sumilon Island is a 24-hectare island, just a 15-minute ride by a pump boat from the main coastland and in a close proximity in the shores of Dumaguete.
This fascinating island boasts of lush vegetation, crystal clear waters and the undamaged underwater attractions. Being the oldest marine sanctuary in the country, it is under the preservation of Silliman University. Teeming with colorful corals and a wide variety of marine faunas, it is best place for snorkeling and diving.
Oslob Seashore
Facing the Bohol Strait, Oslob owned beautiful beaches with powdery white sand and clean waters in blue or in green shades. Its afternoon sea breeze is much cooler and ideal for those who are looking for a place to relax and unwind.
Nueva Caceres Church

It is another beautifully-made church in barangay Nueva Caceres. It used to be a separate town but eventually absorbed by the town of Oslob during the heights of the American occupation.
The Museum of Sacred Heart
It is now of the current attractions in Oslob. It specializes in sacred images and religious artifacts all over the world that are dated back 11th century A.D. Among the most priced possession is the image of St. Joseph and the Holy Child in 21 karat gold, three large emeralds, six diamonds, one aquamarine, one chrysocolla and three bicolor tourmalines.
It is opened by the public but by appointment only. Interested visitors have to inform the office first.
Cuartel

Entertain your eyes with the traces of Oslob’s gloomy past. Only the ruins of this ancient barracks are left. Located in barangay Poblacion facing the Oslob Church.
Baluarte (watchtowers)

Located in the vicinity of the Cuartel area in Poblacion, one can see the ruins of this ancient watchtower. It was part of the defense system in dispelling the Moro raiders during the past.
Calle Aragones

Known to be the oldest street in Oslob.
